Sudbury driver dies in crash
Police have confirmed the identity of a woman killed Sunday in a crash on Big Nickel Road.
“The deceased driver has been identified as a 37-year-old woman from Greater Sudbury,” according to a tweet from Greater Sudbury Police. “Out of respect for her family’s wishes, we will not be releasing her name. Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends.”
The victim was the sole occupant of a sedan that struck a rock cut on Big Nickel Road on Sunday night.
Police said the green Buick fourdoor sedan was travelling at a very high rate of speed about 11 p.m. when it left the road at Municipal Road 35 and struck the rock cut.
The woman received extensive injuries and the Centre of Forensic Sciences was engaged to obtain a positive identification.
