Im­paired charges

A man from south­west­ern On­tario faces im­paired charges af­ter his ve­hi­cle went in the ditch on High­way 17 in Greater Sud­bury. Shortly af­ter 4 p.m. on Fri­day, Sud­bury OPP re­sponded to two traf­fic com­plaints of er­ratic driv­ing in­volv­ing the same ve­hi­cle. “Po­lice pa­trolled the area and lo­cated the ve­hi­cle, a black Nis­san Rogue, in the ditch,” the OPP said in a re­lease. Justin Dono­hue, from London, Ont., was ar­rested and charged with im­paired driv­ing over 80 mg, dan­ger­ous op­er­a­tion of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle and driv­ing with cannabis read­ily avail­able. The ac­cused was is­sued a 90-day driver’s li­cence sus­pen­sion and the ve­hi­cle was im­pounded for seven days. He was re­leased on a prom­ise to ap­pear at the On­tario Court of Jus­tice in Sud­bury on Feb. 6. The OPP said it ap­pre­ci­ated the heads-up from witnesses in this in­ves­ti­ga­tion. “We rely on the pub­lic to re­port crime and im­paired driv­ing is a crime that should be treated no dif­fer­ently,” the OPP said. “If you sus­pect that some­one is driv­ing or about to drive im­paired, call 911 and re­port it.”
