Shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 9, a man was seen walking in and out of traffic and acting in an erratic manner on the Kingsway just beyond Third Avenue. He was wearing dark clothing and was in an area that had limited artificial lighting, and no immediate crosswalk. For unknown reasons, the man stepped out from the centre turning lane and directly in front of a white SUV that was traveling towards Coniston. The SUV struck the man. He was then struck by two additional vehicles in the eastbound lanes. All of the vehicles stopped at the scene of the collision; however, one of the drivers left the scene before police obtained his information. No charges are pending in relation to this collision. The Greater Sudbury Police Service is asking this driver to contact the traffic management unit in order to provide a statement, as well as his personal and vehicle information.
