Woman charged in fatal crash in court
A Greater Sudbury woman will make her next appearance in court in early June concerning a fatal motor vehicle collision in mid-December east of the city. Christine Kettle, 18, had a next appearance date of June 3 set in provincial offences court Monday at Tom Davies Square. Kettle is charged with careless driving causing death in a two-vehicle collision that occurred Dec. 16 on Highway 17 in the Municipality of Markstay-Warren. The collision killed Carole Mantha, 53, of North Bay. According to the OPP, Kettle was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle that struck Mantha’s vehicle. The penalty upon conviction of the charge of careless driving causing death is a fine of $2,000 to $50,000, up to two years imprisonment or both, and a possible driver’s licence suspension of not more than five years.
