Rum­mage sale: Larch­wood United Church, 15 Dou­glas Cres., Dowl­ing, will hold its an­nual rum­mage sale 9 a.m-2 p.m. May 10 and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. May 11. There will be gen­tly used cloth­ing, shoes, books and toys, and kitchen and house­hold items.

Art: The North­ern Artist Gallery is pleased to an­nounce the ex­hibitor for the month of May will be artist Kelly Bar­bosa. Her ex­hibit will show­case her love for oceanic crea­tures and can be viewed at Artists on El­gin, 168 El­gin St., from May 1-31. The pub­lic is in­vited to at­tend an open­ing re­cep­tion on May 11 from 1-4 p.m. to meet the artist. Artists on El­gin is open Mon­day to Satur­day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Lit­er­ary: Read­ing Town Sud­bury cel­e­brates chil­dren’s au­thor Robert Mun­sch. Mun­sch Day goes Satur­day from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the New Sud­bury Cen­tre. Art sale: La Ga­lerie du Nou­vel-On­tario, 174 El­gin St., has a wide va­ri­ety of items to sell as a re­sult of a base­ment clean-up. There are small, medium and large frames, art mag­a­zines and books, paint­ings and ran­dom items. Ev­ery­thing must go. Items will be avail­able to pur­chase 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tues­day to Fri­day un­til May 22. Mu­sic: The North­ern On­tario Mu­sic Fes­ti­val Honour Con­cert Band per­forms May 11 at 2:30 p.m. in the McKel­lar Au­di­to­rium at Lockerby Com­pos­ite School. Un­der the di­rec­tion of Dy­lan Mad­dix, the band con­sists of high school mu­sic stu­dents from Sud­bury, North Bay and Barrie per­form­ing to­gether as the cul­mi­na­tion of their two-and-a-half­day in­ten­sive band pro­gram. Tick­ets are avail­able at the door and cost $5 for stu­dents and $10 for adults.

Art: The Art Gallery of Sud­bury’s 49th-an­nual ju­ried ex­hi­bi­tion – Emer­gence – fea­tur­ing 71 works from stu­dents across Greater Sud­bury from Grades 9 through 12, is now be­ing shown. Mu­sic: Walks of Life is a new mu­sic project. Au­di­tions take place on May 11 at Re­spect is Burn­ing, 82 Durham St. Au­di­tions will be­gin at 4 p.m. for vo­cal­ists aged 15 and older. You can book your time slot by call­ing or email­ing Shawn Bai­ley at 705-5215486 or walk­soflife­mu­[email protected]­ Singers are asked to pre­pare a song that demon­strates their vo­cal range and abil­ity; you will also be asked to demon­strate your abil­ity to har­mo­nize as in­structed by mu­sic di­rec­tor Si­mon Landry. The con­cept for Walks of Life is to get a group of six tal­ented, lo­cal per­form­ers to­gether with the goal of tak­ing old songs and mak­ing them new again. The first project in­volves cre­at­ing a mu­sic video.

Den­tal: Cam­brian Col­lege’s den­tal clinic is look­ing for pa­tients un­der the age of 18 for the week of May 13-17 for a free ex­am­i­na­tion. Den­tal ex­am­i­na­tions, teeth clean­ing, X-rays, ath­letic mouth guards and other ser­vices will be pro­vided by den­tal as­sist­ing and den­tal hy­giene stu­dents un­der the su­per­vi­sion of li­censed den­tists and reg­is­tered den­tal hy­gien­ists. Com­edy: Ed­world Kim is a Toronto-based Korean en­ter­tainer spe­cial­iz­ing in fun — fun will be bring­ing to Jokestack. Clif Knight, who show­cases his sense of hu­mour and sense of style in a con­fi­dent and slick voice with a per­spec­tive that is ut­terly unique and hi­lar­i­ous, will join Kim in Sud­bury. The evening gets un­der­way May 11 at 7 p.m. at the Trevi Bar and Grill, 1837 Lasalle Blvd. Tick­ets cost $20 in ad­vance at and $25 the day of the event.
