Rummage sale: Larchwood United Church, 15 Douglas Cres., Dowling, will hold its annual rummage sale 9 a.m-2 p.m. May 10 and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. May 11. There will be gently used clothing, shoes, books and toys, and kitchen and household items.
Art: The Northern Artist Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibitor for the month of May will be artist Kelly Barbosa. Her exhibit will showcase her love for oceanic creatures and can be viewed at Artists on Elgin, 168 Elgin St., from May 1-31. Literary: Reading Town Sudbury celebrates children’s author Robert Munsch. Munsch Day goes Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the New Sudbury Centre. Art sale: La Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario, 174 Elgin St., has a wide variety of items to sell as a result of a basement clean-up. Music: The Northern Ontario Music Festival Honour Concert Band performs May 11 at 2:30 p.m. in the McKellar Auditorium at Lockerby Composite School. Under the direction of Dylan Maddix, the band consists of high school music students from Sudbury, North Bay and Barrie performing together as the culmination of their two-and-a-halfday intensive band program. Tickets are available at the door and cost $5 for students and $10 for adults.
Art: The Art Gallery of Sudbury’s 49th-annual juried exhibition – Emergence – featuring 71 works from students across Greater Sudbury from Grades 9 through 12, is now being shown. Until June 2. Music: Walks of Life is a new music project. Auditions take place on May 11 at Respect is Burning, 82 Durham St. Auditions will begin at 4 p.m. for vocalists aged 15 and older. Singers are asked to prepare a song that demonstrates their vocal range and ability; you will also be asked to demonstrate your ability to harmonize as instructed by music director Simon Landry. The concept for Walks of Life is to get a group of six talented, local performers together with the goal of taking old songs and making them new again. The first project involves creating a music video.
