Mu­sic: Hip hop leg­end Snoop Dogg is com­ing to town. Snoop Dogg & Friends will per­form at the Sud­bury Arena on May 17 with a spe­cial guest yet to be an­nounced. Doors open at 7 p.m. The Greater Sud­bury stop is one of only two in On­tario the cross-Canada tour, which is mark­ing 25 years of “dog­gystyle”, will be mak­ing. The other is Toronto on May 16. Mu­seum: A fan-built replica of Op­ti­mus Prime from the Trans­form­ers movie se­ries will high­light the North­ern On­tario Rail­road Mu­seum and Her­itage Cen­tre’s sea­son-open­ing Big Truck Meet Up, to be held in Capreol on May 18. Theatre: Part One of Ge­og­ra­phy of Fire / La Furie et sa ge­ogra­phie, a new play about the Bat­tle of the Plains of Abra­ham, is get­ting its first-ever pre­sen­ta­tion at the Sud­bury Theatre Cen­tre at 2 p.m. Writ­ten and pro­duced by two-time Gover­nor-Gen­eral Award-win­ning play­wright Colleen Mur­phy, the play dra­ma­tizes four months lead­ing up to Sept.13, 1759 - the piv­otal bat­tle that changed the course of North Amer­i­can his­tory. The play fea­tures 19 ac­tors, most of them from Greater Sud­bury, and 12 life-size pa­pier mache an­i­mals cre­ated by Cop­per Cliff artist Suzanne McCrae. Tick­ets are avail­able at

Mu­sic: The theme for May’s Keys to the Li­brary con­cert is mod­ern mu­sic and the gui­tar. Ja­son Daoust will play an in­ter­est­ing cross-sec­tion of mu­sic from tra­di­tional pieces to mod­ern mu­sic. Join us at the Macken­zie Street li­brary on May 18 at 1 p.m. to hear Daoust. This is a monthly fundrais­ing event to raise money to pur­chase a pi­ano for the li­brary.
