Symington to run for the Conservatives in Sudbury

-

Dr. Ian Symington will once again run for the Conservatives in the Sudbury riding whenever the next federal election is called.

“I am honoured to be on the ballot representing Sudbury when Canadians go to the ballot box to decide the next federal government,” Symington said in a release. “When I am elected, I will work hard to make Sudbury safe, affordable and better.”

The Sudbury Electoral District Association called Symington the “Common-Sense Conservative candidate” for Sudbury, which is now held by Liberal MP Viviane Lapointe.

Symington ran in the 2021 federal election, finishing third behind Lapointe and NDP candidate Nadia Verrelli.

Symington said getting rid of the carbon tax, building new homes, fixing the federal budget and stopping crime are Conservative priorities.

“I want to be part of a new (Pierre) Poilievre government that has ideas and policies that make sense for all Canadians not just a chosen few in big cities," he said. "I will be there, so Sudbury is included and is clearly represented at the table when decisions are made.”

Symington is a married father of three children. He grew up in Copper Cliff where he now practices medicine. Before medicine, he was a secondary school teacher in Sudbury. He is an avid volunteer and community leader.
