On Satur­day at 4 p.m. join the Ge­or­gian Bay Sym­phony for its Fam­ily Christ­mas Con­cert. The af­ter­noon fea­tures a carol sing-along with mu­sic per­formed by Owen Sound Mu­sic for Youth; danc­ing with the Owen Sound Dance Academy and a dra­matic read­ing from Owen Sound Lit­tle The­atre. This is a pay what you can com­mu­nity event at East Ridge Com­mu­nity School, 1550 8th St. E. Owen Sound.

For the 33rd year the Au­thors’ Open House will take place, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Satur­day at The Gin­ger Press in down­town Owen Sound. The an­nual Au­thors’ Open House has be­come an im­por­tant lit­er­ary tra­di­tion in the Grey Bruce com­mu­nity, by pro­vid­ing the op­por­tu­nity for lo­cal writ­ers and read­ers to con­nect. A toy drive fundraiser for Saugeen fea­tures a Crys­tal Shawanda Christ­mas Con­cert. Show takes place on Satur­day, at 7 p.m. at the James Ma­son Cen­tre, Saugeen First Na­tion. Tick­ets $20 for adults, $10 for youth, $5 for chil­dren. Tick­ets at the door.

The an­nual Owen Sound City Band Christ­mas­time Fam­ily Con­cert, di­rected by Ju­lia Richards, is at 2 p.m. Sun­day, Dec. 9 at the Harry Lum­ley Bayshore Com­mu­nity Cen­tre in Owen Sound. There will be op­por­tu­ni­ties for sin­ga­longs, with fea­tured vo­cal soloists. The show fea­tures the Alexan­dra Com­mu­nity School Choir, di­rected by Heather Thomp­son. there will be re­fresh­ments and all are wel­come. Ad­mis­sion is by do­na­tion, with all pro­ceeds to the Min­is­te­rial As­so­ci­a­tion sign fund.

The an­nual Com­mu­nity Christ­mas Choir con­cert takes place Sun­day, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. and again Mon­day, Dec .10 at 7:30 p.m. at Ann es ley United Church in Mark­dale. The choir of al­most 80 mem­bers is di­rected by Chris Grif­fin and ac­com­pa­nied by David Fries on the or­gan and pi­ano. The con­cert, Cel­e­brate Christ­mas, will fea­ture songs old and new and will get the au­di­ence in the mood for the Christ­mas sea­son. The evening ends with a re­cep­tion in the church hall where de­li­cious home baked good­ies will be en­joyed. Ad­mit­tance is by freewill of­fer­ing. Snow date will be De­cem­ber 12 at 7:30 p.m..

There’s and early bird Christ­mas ex­hibit at the Legacy Gallery at the Owen Sound Artists’ Co-op. The ex­hibit fea­tures new and dif­fer­ent art and craft from the co-op’s 45 mem­bers, as well as cu­rated work from 48 guest artists of 2018.

Guest artists at the co-op for for Novem­ber in­clude Karen Mur­ray’s pa­pier mache an­i­mals, Jan­ice Dit­ner’s sculp­tural pot­tery, oils on can­vas by Ly­dia Knox and in­ten­tional cam­era move­ment pho­tog­ra­phy by Dianne Sem­ple-Patille. Meaford United Church presents an out­door en­act­ment of “A Liv­ing Na­tiv­ity” Fri­day, Dec. 14 on the grounds of the Meaford United Church, 7 Boucher St. E. There will be three per­for­mances, 7, 7:30 and 8 p.m.

The Hep­worth Shal­low Lake Le­gion, in as­so­ci­a­tion with The Church Ladies, presents Brit­tany Bro die in con­cert at the Le­gion-Mu­sic Hall of Fame Au­di­to­rium, Satur­day, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. Tick­ets are $30 for adults, $15 for youth, $10 chil­dren and are avail­able in Hep­worth at the Le­gion and Cindy’s Va­ri­ety, in Owen Sound at Bayshore Coun­try Feeds and in Port El­gin at the Rab­bit Dash. First Bap­tist Church in Owen Sound presents Wel­come to Our World a mu­si­cal for Christ­mas fea­tur­ing the Shore­line Cho­rus un­der the di­rec­tion of Ann-Marie MacDair­mid, and Hil­lary Jack on vi­olin on Sun­day, Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. With a script cre­ated by Claire Cloninger and Robert Ster­ling, this mu­si­cal gives us a look at the way Je­sus was re­ceived at His birth, how He is re­ceived to­day, and what our re­sponse should be to Him in our ev­ery­day lives. The Com­mu­nity Christ­mas Can­tata Choir presents “Be­hold A Sav­ior!” Tues­day, Dec. 18 and Wed­nes­day, Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bethel Evan­gel­i­cal Mis­sion­ary Church, 18 Fern­dale Rd., Lion’s Head. Un­der the di­rec­tion of David Warder and ac­com­pa­nied by Vicki Cor­co­ran, the pro­gram in­cludes a can­tata filled with joy­ful mu­sic, nar­ra­tions and sto­ries, as well as other pieces by the choir and carol singing for every­one. Soloists and guests, The Ladies of Note, are also per­form­ing. Re­fresh­ments pre­pared by the choir mem­bers are served in the church hall af­ter­wards. Ad­mis­sion is $10 plus a food do­na­tion for the food bank. The cash pro­ceeds, after choir ex­penses, will be di­vided be­tween the mu­sic pro­gram at Bruce Penin­sula District School and Badge of Life Canada, a char­i­ta­ble or­ga­ni­za­tion sup­port­ing first re­spon­ders and cor­rec­tions per­son­nel deal­ing with psy­cho­log­i­cal in­juries. There will be a Christ­mas Dance Party at Hep­worth when The Ridge River Ram­blers re­turn to the Hep­worth Shal­low Lake Le­gion – Mu­sic Hall of Fame Au­di­to­rium on Satur­day, Dec. 22, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sev­eral guest en­ter­tain­ers will per­form with the Ram­blers, plus, there will be dance prizes, Christ­mas treats and more.
