HEWITT, Evelyn Bridget – Passed peacefully away at her home in Trepassey on July 18, 2012 in the presence of her loving family, Evelyn Bridget Hewitt. Predecease­d by her father Thomas (1975), her mother Ita (2005), brother Kevin (1993) and infant sister Mary. Left to mourn her much loved daughter Krista and her cherished granddaugh­ter Morgan; her sisters: Maureen Shea, Geraldine (Ron Wilson), Barbara (Dennis Pearce); her nieces: Deana (David), Emily and Holly Hains, Wendy (Roger), J.T. and Nyah Ryan, Heather ( Doug), Ocean and Macie Fleming; nephews: Scott ( Krista), Tucker & Mary Jo Wilson, also a large circle of family and friends, especially her friend Frances Sutton. Remains resting at Fahey’s Funeral Home, Trepassey. HEWITT, Shirley Marie – It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Hewitt of Rothesay, announce her death which occurred on Monday, July 16, 2012, at Bobby's Hospice, Saint John. Born on January 5th, 1960 in Trepassey, NL, she was the daughter of Michael Hewitt Sr. of Trepassey and the late Mary (Dewling) Hewitt. Shirley made many lifelong friendship­s during her time spent employed as an Educationa­l Assistant for School District 6. She loved to paint, enjoyed reading and had a keen mind for word games especially Scrabble. Shirley was also a passionate hockey fan. Most of all, she adored her time spent with her children and devoted her life to caring for them. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Besides her father, Michael Sr., Shirley is also survived by her precious children: Adam and Mary, both at home; four sisters: Marcheta Costello (Hilary) of Quispamsis, Jeanette Hewitt ( Martin) and Colleen Seydell (John) both of St. John's, NL and Barbara Vokey (Stan) of Trinity, NL; five brothers: Noel (Gloria) of Trepassey, Tony (Joy) of St. John's, Billy (Karen), Michael Jr. ( Debbie) and Edward (Sadie) all of Trepassey; sister-in-law Rhonda Hewitt of East Point, NL; several nieces and nephews; many dear friends; as well as the supportive coll eagues at Rothesay Elementary School. She was predecease­d by her brother Kenneth. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery. MURPHY, Terry – son of the late Terry and Gladys Murphy, passed away in Vancouver on July 17, 2012 with his family by his bedside. He was a few days short of his 57th birthday. Terry was the middle brother of five brothers Greg, Fabian, Ed and Gerard. He had one sister Debbie. Terry was a very athletic individual enjoying hockey, rugby and track in his youth. He was an avid outdoor enthusiast and animal lover. Terry had a cutting sense of humour, a twinkle in his eyes that was an indicator of his mischievou­sness and a commanding presence. Terry had many friends in Newfoundla­nd and on the Mainland but he loved his homeland and was very proud of his Newfie heritage. Terry will be sadly missed by his brothers, sister, sister-in-law Anne, brother-in-law Fred, his nephews Jason, Kris, Greg, his many friends and relatives. RABBITTS, Muriel G. – Passed peacefully away in Ryde, Isle of Wight (UK) on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the age of 101 years. Predecease­d by her parents Fred and Jessie of St John's; her brothers: Jack, Max and George; as well as her sister Jean. Leaving to mourn her sisters-in-law: Dorothy Rabbitts (St. John's), and Elva RabbittsSu­tcliffe ( Colorado Springs, Col.); niece Margaret (Corner Brook); and nephews: Derek Rabbitts (Monroe, NY), and David Rabbitts (Clearwater, Fla.). Muriel was educated at The Methodist College and trained as a nurse at The Grace General. She went to Britain prior to the outbreak of WW II and though she briefly returned to Newfoundla­nd in the late 1940's, she returned to live out her career in East London. A former member of George Street United Church choir, Muriel was an accomplish­ed pianist, singer, poet, story teller and authored a number of children's books. Her craft skills were varied and earned her many accolades. Cremation has taken place in the UK. A memorial service for the late Muriel G. Rabbitts will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012, at 2 p.m. from George Street United Church, with interment to follow at the General Protestant Cemetery, Old Topsail Road. Anyone who remembers Muriel is warmly invited to attend the services and afterwards welcomed for refreshmen­ts at Barrett’s Funeral Home Reception Centre, 328 Hamilton Avenue. SINGLETON, Genevieve – Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, Genevieve Marie Singleton (nee Daley), at 88 years of age. She was predecease­d by her husband Edgar (2000), sons Michael (1955) and Karl (1990), and grandson Liam Grant (1989). Left with warm memories and sad hearts are her daughters: Maureen (Jim Warren), with whom she resided, and Sheila (Bruce Grant); grandchild­ren: Carolyn, Karl (Paulette Penton) and Andrea (Justin Ladha) Singleton and their mother Doreen, Patrick and Genevieve Warren, and Hilary and Devin Grant; and great-grandchild­ren Madeline, Grace and AnnaClare Ladha, who brought great joy to her final months; lifelong friend Kitty Gregory and long time friend and neighbor Pearl Smith; and a wide circle of other relatives and friends. VERGE, Frank J. – Passed away peacefully vacationin­g in Quebec with his inlaw family on July 12, 2012. Frank Verge, aged 73 years. Left with fond and loving memories his wife, Rose; three children: Frank, Kevin (Patricia) and Darlene Matthew (Bill); two grandchild­ren: Nicole Verge and Justin Matthew; and great-grandson, Marcello J; two brothers: Arthur and John, N.S.; two sisters: Deanna, B.C. and Mary, O.N.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many colleagues and friends.
