BABB, Estelle Vera Elizabeth (nee Pike) (born September 29, 1928) — It is with profound sadness that the family of Estelle Babb announces the passing of a beloved wife, mother and grandmothe­r while in the loving arms of her family at her residence in Harbour Grace on July 22, 2012. Predecease­d by her parents Mortimer and Annie (Moores) Pike, sister: Louise Garner and brother: Clifford. Estelle leaves to mourn her husband of 62 years, Lorenzo, children: Sharon Babb, Harbour Grace, Gail (Tom) Lynch, Mount Pearl, John (Genevieve), Carbonear and Joanne (Glenn) Dwyer, Lower Sackville, NS; grandchild­ren, Meghan (John) Mills, Campbell River, BC, Victoria and Luke Penney, Harbour Grace, Deirdre Lynch, Calgary, AB, Ian (Nicole) Lynch, St. John’s, Andrew and Jessica Babb, Carbonear, Emily and Anna Dwyer, Lower Sackville, NS; great-grandsons, Ian and Alex Mills, Campbell River, BC and Cole Penney, Harbour Grace. Also leaving to mourn, a large circle of other family members, dear friends and a loyal group of lifelong companions, affectiona­tely known as “The Big Six,” Georgianna Slade (deceased), Maxine Taylor (deceased), Lill i an Babb, Kathleen Parsons and Shirley Sharpe. Estelle was a lifelong volunteer. She was an honorary, life member of the Newfoundla­nd and Labrador Associatio­n of Health Care Auxiliarie­s, member of the Carbonear General Hospital Auxiliary, volunteer with the Girl Guides of Canada, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Harbour Grace and an inductee into the Harbour Grace Sports Hall of Fame. Above everything else, she was a devoted, loving mother, giving tremendous support to all her children’s endeavors. She will always be endeared in our hearts as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r, community volunteer, friend and a caring generous soul to those less fortunate. Estelle’s home was always a welcoming and warm haven to all. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Chris Peddle for his exceptiona­l care. “Thank you” is also extended to the dedicated caregivers who helped fulfill Estelle’s wishes for her final days. The family will receive relatives and friends at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace on Tuesday, July 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon, 2 to 5 p.m., 7 to 9:30 p.m. A funeral service of thanksgivi­ng will take place on Wednesday, July 25 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul's Anglican Church, Harbour Grace. A private family inurnment to be held at a later date at St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Grace. BROWN, Alexander Robert (Born May 11, 1920 in Kings Cove, Bonavista Bay. Died July 21, 2012.) — Passed peacefully into eternal rest at the L.A. Predecease­d by his wife Ruby (August 21, 2009), parents Wilson and Bessie (Elizabeth) Brown, sister and brother- in- l aw Megan and Hector Carter and brother-in-law Felix Lawton. CHIDLEY, Ann Maureen (nee Kennedy) March 10, 1955 — On July 22, 2012, it is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ann Maureen Chidley (nee Kennedy) of Renews, age 57, in the presence of her loving family and friends. After a year long battle with cancer, Ann passed away at the Leonard A. Miller Centre, Palliative Care Unit, after being transferre­d from the Health Sciences Centre. Predecease­d by her parents: James and Shirley Kennedy, nephews: Aiden and Jeffrey O'driscoll, father-in-law: James Chidley, special friends: Paul Johnson and Lillian Kennedy. (Philippian­s 1:23). MOAKLER, Paul — At Freeport Health Centre, Kitchener, on Friday, July 20, 2012, at 56 years of age. Paul leaves behind many people who loved him dearly. Wife Linda (Finn, nee Rowe); his Mom, Anne Moakler; brothers Ron (Linda); Ken (Lan Le); Philip (Joanne Lethbridge); David; niece Denise Moakler; step-daughters Tracy Finn (Kevin Kakonge); Cynthia Reinhart (Mike); and little granddaugh­ter Emily Reinhart. His Aunt Gretta Moakler, sistersin-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who all felt the quiet, calm goodness of Paul. Predecease­d by his father Alfred. Cremation has taken place and Paul will travel ‘home’ to Goose Bay so he can once again enjoy the feel of those wonderful northern breezes.
