Sheshatshiu RCMP investigates assaults with rocks
Sheshatshiu — The RCMP was called to a report of an assault at a residence in Sheshatshiu early Friday morning.
An Investigation revealed a woman had been assaulted by a man who had also been at the house, but who had departed prior to their arrival.
The police say they believe the victim had been hit numerous times, including being hit with a rock. The woman was taken to the health centre in Happy ValleyGoose Bay, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
A suspect has been identified, but no arrests have been made. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
Then, shortly before 1 p.m. Friday, RCMP officers were called to another residence to provide assistance to an ambulance.
At the residence, they discovered a woman had received numerous head injuries after being repeatedly hit with a rock.
In this case, police have identified a female suspect and are continuing their investigation. The victim was transported to the Happy Valley-Goose Bay health centre for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in both incidents.
