Under-14 mega tourneys conclude

St-Pierre’s ASSP and St. John’s emerged as “B” champions as the Pepsi Cola provincial under-14 boys and girls’ soccer mega championsh­ips wrapped up over the weekend.

At the boys’ event in Gander, Alix Largerie and Michael Boisse scored for ASSP as they defeated Paradise 2-1. Travis Chaytor replied for the losers.

Members of the ASSP championsh­ip club include Emmanuel Alvarez, Alexis Gautier, Largerie, Arnaud Gautier, Iban Leroux, Nathan Yon, Evan Urdanabia, Mattia Boudreau, Thomas Chenu, Boissel, Quentin Girardin, Romain Gaspard, Morgan Hurel, Alexandre Rivollet, Julien Fouchard, Marti Urtizberea, coach Eric Mare, assistant coach J.M. Alvarez, assistant coach Bernard Guibert and manager Ronald Manet.

St. John’s captured the girls’ title at home with a 1-0 over Paradise. Lauren Taylor had the goal and Hannah Boland recorded the shutout.

Members of the St. John’s championsh­ip team include Rebecca Allen, Annika Bieger, Boland, Hannah Budgell, Hannah Cooke, Kelsey Crocker, Becky Daley, Sara Fifield, Kelsea Furlong, Lauren Jackman, Hannah Kenny, Aimee Kieley, Jamie King, Jennifer MacKinnon, Mahima Meshra, Katherine Squires, Taylor, coach Clemente Miranda, assistant coach Francisco Caimanque and manager Sharon Tiller.

Provincial under-14 “A” titles, as well as under-16 “A” titles, will be decided in provincial age-group league playoffs and finals. Note: other results from the U14 mega tourneys will appear in the Saturday, Aug. 18 edition of the Telegram in the Local Scoreboard section.
