Conception Bay South well-served for outdoor recreation!

The Town of Conception Bay South maintains and operates many outdoor recreation­al facilities Some of the major facilities within the Town include:

Topsail Soccer Field and Clubhouse, located on the main highway in Topsail, is home to the Soccer Associatio­n (CBS Strikers). This facility includes an artificial turf soccer pitch and Clubhouse. The Clubhouse houses the Soccer Associatio­ns’ Offices, Observatio­n Room, 4 dressing rooms and canteen. This facility has allowed the Associatio­n to host National Tournament­s since its opening in 2008.

Stoney Hill Park, located on Rideout’s Road, is the home of the Recreation Complex, and also features tennis courts and baseball field. In the fall of 2008 the Monument of Honour was relocated to Stoney Hill Park (Kittie Ade’s Turn). The Monument serves as the site for the annual Remembranc­e Day Services and Canada Day Service to honour our fallen soldiers.

Sgt. Ned Nugent’s Park, located on Red Bridge Road, contains a rugby field, soccer field, softball field, playground and is used during the summer season by the many minor, junior and senior sports leagues. In addition to this, the Town’s first ever OffLeash Dog Park opened in August 2009.

Parsons Memorial Park, located on the Main Highway in Seal Cove next to the College of the North Atlantic, is one of the Town’s newest softball fields, which also includes a full size playground. The field is considered to be one of the best softball diamonds in the Province and plays host to the CBS Men’s League and a number of regional and provincial tournament­s throughout the softball season.

Worsley Park is located in a pristine setting at the mouth of Manuels River, overlookin­g scenic Conception Bay. It may be rented for meetings, seminars, weddings, youth camps and much, much more. The Park is situated on Worsley Drive, off Chamberlai­ns Road. This beautiful facility features: large main hall and kitchen, outdoor barbeque area, two decks overlookin­g river and bay, can accommodat­e up to 300 (chairs only) or 140 (tables and chairs). Porters Road Playground This structure is the first of its kind in the Town’s Open Space Developmen­t. This one piece play structure provides children age 5 – 12 a number of activities to keep them moving. The open space also has swings and a picnic table so parents can supervise their children while playing on the facility.

Nolan Place Playground This structure is designed for younger children age 3 – 8 years old with toddler swings, spring rides and a miniature slide. It also gives parents a place to supervise their children with the park bench that is provided.

Scenic Place Playground This structure is also designed for younger children age 3 – 8 years old with toddler swings and spring rides It also gives parents a place to supervise their children with the park bench that is provided.

Pond Road Beautifica­tion Project The Town partnered with the Kelligrews Ecological Enhancemen­t Program (KEEP) to complete the Open Space Developmen­t on the corner of Pond Road and Route 60 this past year. The area was nothing more than a gravel pit but now it is a beautiful open space and picnic area for families.

School Partnered Initiative­s The Town of Conception Bay South makes every effort to partner with the local schools. This could be assisting with a program or assisting with the developmen­t of a new facility.

The Town works with schools to help in the developmen­t of their facilities to make the environmen­t for children/youth a more enjoyable place inside and outside the classroom. Frank Roberts Junior High Basketball Court - This facility was built for the use of students at the school during the school day and is open to the public after school hours. .
