One of the CBS business programs: retention and expansion
The Town of Conception Bay South initiatied a Business Retention and Expansion Program in March 2011. Businesses were contacted and invited to participate. BRE is an internationally recognized economic development tool that helps identify and address barriers to survival and groth faced by local businesses. It is based on the philosophy that existing firms are the key to regional economic prosperity.
Businesses who participate are interviewed in the areas of Marketing and Sales, Operations, Location, Finance and Accounting, Human Resources and Management, Future Plans and Community Satisfaction. Resources can then be shared and identified to businesses to assist them in enhancing their business in any of the above areas.
At the end of the BRE initiative, a presentation will be made on the outcome of the data collection and opportunities for busiesses to participate in the development of an action plan will exist.
Following are some valuable sources of information available to businesses in CBS.
CBDC Cabot assists in the creation of small to medium size businesses and in the expansion and modernization of existing businesses, by providing financial and technical services to entrepreneurs. Financial assistance to a maximum of $150,000 is available in the form of loans, loan guarantees and equity financing to existing and aspiring entrepreneurs, in addition to business counseling, advice and training.
