A Paradise man arrested in connection with the seizure of a number of firearms will stay in jail until at least next week.

Michael Rodney Slade appeared in provincial court in St John’s Friday morning.

Lawyers agreed to set the case over for a possible bail hearing Tuesday.

The 26-year-old faces 10 charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, three counts of contravention of firearm storage regulations breaches of possession contrary to an order and a breach of probation.

He was one of two Paradise men who were charged after police seized the firearms from a home in that community Wednesday.

A 22-year-old, whose name has not yet been released, was also arrested. He will appear in court at a later date.

The arrests came following a joint RNC/RCMP investigation.

The drug investigation units of the RNC and RCMP searched a home in the area of Ashlen Crescent in Paradise.

In the course of the search, officers seized a Tupper lever action shotgun with the stock sawed off and a Lee Enfield bolt action rifle with a short magazine and ammunition.

A quantity of marijuana was also seized.

The 22-year-old has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and production of a controlled substance under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.
