RNC says ‘no new information’ in Joshua Miller case
St. John’s — The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says it has no new information to share concerning the whereabouts of a St. John’s man who has now been missing for more than five months.
Joshua Miller, 20, was last spotted in the Stavanger Drive and Blue Puttee Drive area of St. John’s after reportedly exiting a taxi. On Friday, a statement from the RNC said it had “no new information to provide at this point,” adding his disappearance remains an active investigation.
A friend of Miller’s told The Telegram shortly after he went missing that Miller was involved in an altercation on George Street on the evening of Feb. 7. He said Miller’s friend hailed a cab to help him leave the area.
An extensive ground search took place in the area during the days following his disappearance. The RNC and members of the Rovers Search and Rescue team took part in the search, as did many of Miller’s friends. At the time, his friends said it was strange he would not report to work without first contacting his boss. They also said he would often sleep at a friend’s house if he was coming home late. Miller reportedly had a friend in the Stavanger Drive area with whom he would sometimes stay.
More searches took place after the snow melted away in the spring, but they did not provide any further clues. The Canadian Press reported last month that a grid approach has been used to cover the area. Police described Miller as 6’1” and 180-185 lbs with short, sandycoloured hair and blue eyes.
