On Sunday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m., Marlene Creates will hold an open mic at The Boreal Poetry Garden in Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s as one of more than 800 events taking place in 115 countries around the world for 100 Thousand Poets and Musicians for Change: www.100tpc.org. You are invited to contribute up to five minutes of poetry, music, song, or storytelling in celebration of the environment. You can present it at a spot of your choice on a walk around The Boreal Poetry Garden — a six-acre patch of boreal forest — among the trees or along the Blast Hole Pond River, or when everyone is seated back in the garage. There will be a bonfire, marshmallows and something with which to toast the natural world. Donations will be collected for the Brother Brennan Environmental Education Centre. RSVP if you’d like to participate; marlene.creates@nf.sympatico.ca.
