Elmiraj is Stunning But No Production

This isn’t your grandfather’s Cadillac. The latest concept from General Motors’ luxury division is called Elmiraj, and it is a stunner.

The Elmiraj’s name takes its inspiration from the dry El Mirage Lake, which is a popular venue for high-speed time trials. Looking like a direct rival to the Bentley Continental GT, the two-door, four-seater coupe spans 205 inches (5,207 mm) in length and is powered by a twin-turbo 4.5L V8 engine that is capable of producing 500 hp, fed to the rear wheels.

In short, this is exactly the kind of car Cadillac needs in order to be taken seriously as a world-class performance/luxury carmaker.

Unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours in Monterey, California, the Cadillac Elmiraj Concept gives the public a glimpse into what future models of the brand will look like. Its design language, which was first shown on the Ciel Concept two years ago, and more recently on the new ATS and CTS sedans, is all about aggressive, sharp angles which gives the car a lot of presence.

The stunning exterior is met with an equally elegant and sophisticated interior. Combining the luxury of fallen Brazilian Rosewood veneer with cutting-edge high-resolution display screens for its instrument and infotainment features, the Elmiraj’s interior is both classic and futuristic.

Sadly, there are no current plans to put the Cadillac Elmiraj Concept into production; however, its revised ‘crest’ emblem will potentially make it to new Cadillac models in the near future.
