Murphy provides offence as Patriots capture provincial 4A crown

Terri Murphy scored both goals as the O’Donel Patriots defeated Gonzaga Vikings 2-1 to win the provincial 4A girls’ high school soccer championship Saturday at Smallwood Park in Mount Pearl. Nicole Torraville scored for Gonzaga. Murphy scored twice as the Patriots blanked Holy Spirit 2-0 in one semifinal.

Jenny Bent scored two goals as the Vikings earned a berth in the final by beating Mount Pearl Senior High Huskies 3-1 in the other semifinal. Melissa Reid had one goal for Gonzaga.
