Highlanders are Oktoberfest champs

The Holy Heart Highlanders edged the Gonzaga Vikings 3-2 to win the Oktoberfest high school hockey championship Saturday at the Glacier.

Eddie Rumsey, Josh Nolan and Liam Maher scored for the winners.

Owen Winsor and John Simms replied for the Vikings.

Gonzaga took four of the game’s six minor penalties.

Gonzaga defeated the O’Donel Patriots 3-1 to earn a berth in the final, while Holy Heart edged the Mount Pearl Senior High Huskies 2-1 in the other semifinal.
