Passed peacefully away after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the Leonard A Miller Centre on Thursday, July 24, 2014, aged 79 years, in the presence of her loving family. Predecease­d by her husband Stephen (2013); parents John T and Mary Hannon; and brother Donald. Leaving to mourn her five children: Mark (Kitchener, ON); Brian (Saint John, NB); Mary Tucker (Darrell), CBS; Joanne Mason (David) Bedford, NS; and Jackie Handrigan (John) Paradise; grandchild­ren: Donna, Amanda, and Laura Gellately; Colin and Nathan Tucker; Erin and Hillary Mason; Nicole and Kathleen Handrigan; great granddaugh­ter Leah Gellately; brothers: Gerald (Anne), Cyril (Tania), Sam (Myrna), Basil (Lucie), Eugene (Cecilia); sisters: Helen Lane (Bruce) and Teresa Edge (Michael); and sister-in-law Elizabeth (Betty) French. Visitation at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonweal­th Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Saturday & Sunday, July 26th & July 27th, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral mass at Mary Queen of the World Parish on Monday, July 28th at 2:00pm. Interment at Holy Sepulchre to follow. No flowers by request. Donations in Josephine's memory may be made to the Dr. H. Special thanks to Dr. Kara Laing and her oncology team for their many years of care and support as well as the Palliative care team at the L.A. Miller Centre. Thanks to Father Francis Roche and Jean Hall for their continued spiritual support. Proud and strong until the end - she was a constant source of strength and courage to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
