Singer and songwriter Matty Rose will put a little country into Christmas next Thursday as he hosts his third annual Christmas show.

Rose, 21, from Mount Pearl, says he’ll embark on a tour in January with shows in this province, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario and Nashville, where he will be joined by violinist Lauren Conklin.

He plans to release his debut full-length album, “Born a Rolling Stone,” on iTunes Christmas Day.

Rose is partnering with Choices For Youth for this year’s Christmas show, and will donate proceeds to the organization, which provides emergency shelter, support and services to at-risk and homeless youth.

A Choices For Youth spokeswoman said the money raised will go specifically to the “25 Stories of Hope” project, running throughout this month, until Christmas Day.

Each day, through the project website at www.25storiesofhope.com, Choices For Youth is accepting donations for specific items, and explaining the stories behind them.

One day it might be art supplies, giving youth a healthy outlet; another day it might be baby supplies for young mothers; another day it could be bus passes, providing a method of transportation and a way to get to work.

“When I was younger, I had to avail of some of the services provided by Choices For Youth,” Rose said.

“While I was never in the position of being homeless at Christmastime, I can imagine how overwhelming it must be.”

Rose, who will be accompanied onstage by his girlfriend, singer Lainey May, will perform tunes from “Born a Rolling Stone,” some cover music and Christmas songs during the concert.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the door, or by calling the church.

Showtime is 7 p.m.
