CLARKE Maisie Lorraine

-

Oct. 1, 1938 - Sept. 11, 2015 It is with great sadness that the family of Lorraine Clarke announces her passing on September 11, 2015 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, surrounded by her loving family. She will be deeply missed by her two sons Scott and Jonathan; daughter Laura Harris (Paul), and two special grandchildren, Ben and Maya. Lorraine was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Donald. Also left to mourn are her mother Enid Jerrett of Clarke's Beach; sisters Jean Rex (Jerry), Susan Quinlan (Phil); brothers Eric Jerrett (Betty), Fred Jerrett (Linda), and Bob Jerrett (Elaine), as well as aunts, cousins and numerous nieces and nephews who cherished "Aunt Lorraine" dearly. Lorraine was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a loyal friend, and a dedicated teacher. She was renown for her kind and giving nature and demonstrated a spirit of perseverance, grace and dignity that was truly inspiring. She was born in Clarke's Beach, Newfoundland and as the eldest of seven siblings quickly became a mother figure to her younger brothers and sisters. Lorraine, or "Maisie" as she was then known, demonstrated her book smarts at an early age, completing high school at the tender age of 14. After high school she moved to St. John's to study Secretarial Sciences, quickly joined the workforce and helped contribute to her family back home. After marrying and eventually settling in Corner Brook, she attained her Education degree while raising a young family. She went on to become a longtime instructor at the former Vocational School (currently known as the College of the North Atlantic). After retirement, Lorraine continued to live life to the fullest and enjoyed travelling, tending to her garden, and spending time with family and friends. She touched the lives of those she met and many will miss her warmth and generosity. As per Lorraine's wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation took place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Monday. Funeral Services will be held at Oakland United Church, Forestside Road on Tuesday September 15, 2015 at 2 pm. Donations in her memory can be made to the Western Regional Hospital Foundation, your local food bank, or a charity of your choice.
