• ChoirFest Sing at St. Mary’s the Virgin Church, Craigmilla­r Avenue. On Saturday, Oct. 3, worldrenow­ned choral specialist­s Patrick Freer, Julia Davids and Cathy Benedict will deliver a fullday workshop for both adult singers and youth singers using rehearsals to foster vocal skill developmen­t and encourage healthy vocal technique in a group setting. • In case you missed the first day last Saturday, VOWR will hold Day 2 of its annual Radiothon Saturday, Oct. 3 from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. VOWR volunteers will be on the air requesting financial pledges, with the proceeds going towards purchasing and upgrading broadcasti­ng equipment. Pledges can be made by calling 579-9233 or 579-7885. Donations can be mailed to VOWR (P.O. Box 26006, St. John’s, NL, A1E 0A5); left at the drop box at the studio on Patrick Street; or made via PayPal on the VOWR website (vowr.org). If you are in the area of the station on Patrick Street on Saturday, drop by with your donation and have a coffee on us.

• Join friendly local volunteers from NAACAP and Nature NL for a morning spent beautifyin­g Leary’s Brook in St. John’s. The cleanup will take place Saturday, Oct. 3 from 9-11 a.m. Meet at the corner of Oxen Pond Road and Baird Place; all materials, snacks and prizes will be provided. • St. Thomas’ Church Fall Fair will be held Saturday, Oct. 3 at 9 a.m. in Canon Wood Hall, 8 Military Rd. Morning coffee and eat-in hot roast beef luncheons will be served. Luncheon tickets are available by calling 754-0151. Lots of great goods — homemade fudge, children’s clothes and toys, including clothes for 18” dolls, handmade kitchen items, baked goods, preserves, plants, jewelry, books, novelty items, surprise table and handmade knitted striped socks, caps, mittens, sweaters and more.

• Memorial University’s school of music is hosting a festival for woodwinds Oct. 3 from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the M.O. Morgan Music Building. • The 2015 Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation-CIBC Run for the Cure takes place Sunday, Oct. 4 at Royal Canadian Legion, 930 The Boulevard. The final registrati­on is 8:30 a.m. and the run starts at 10 a.m. • Gospel night at St. Peter’s Parish Hall, Upper Gullies, is Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. Music by St. Peter’s Fellowship Band. • “Rock of Ages” is the explosive production built around the famous glam bands and their greatest hits of the 1980s. We are looking for rock and rollers, singers, dancers and musicians. Tada! Events, known for shows like “Chicago,” “Evita” and “Divas” will hold auditions for “Rock of Ages” at the Arts and Culture Centre Oct. 4. For an audition, contact jean@tadaentert­ainment.com.
