Terra Nova Resort hosts Junior CN Future Links Skills Challenge

The Tely Tour in partnershi­p with Golf Newfoundla­nd Labrador (GNL) held its annual CN Future Links Skills Challenge on Sunday Aug. 28, as part of the Tely Tour Championsh­ip weekend. The Future Links skills challenge is broken into age categories and gender and encompass four basic golf skills including: putting, chipping, irons and driving with points awarded for the successful achievemen­t of each skill. At the conclusion of the competitio­n the individual with the highest combined score wins that specific division. This year there were three boys and one girls division comprising under 11 division, 12 to 14 years and 15 to 18 years for the boys with a 12 to 14 girls division. In the Under 11 Boys Division, Jack MacHardy-Pelley won the gold medal with a total of 215 points, the silver was won by Jack Boone with 170 points. In the 12 to 14 Boys Division the gold medal was won by Ethan Efford with 220 points, followed by Alex Dolomount with 180 points, good for the silver. Evan Pye and Joseph Cluney tied for the bronze medal with identical scores of 175 points. In the 15 to 18 Boys Division, Matthew Bonnell took the gold with a score of 190, and the silver to Patrick d’Eon with 170 points. In the 12 to 14 Girls Division, Megan Colbourne captured the gold with a total of 230 points, Paige Hickey won the silver with 175 points while Taylor Cormier was awarded the bronze medal after scoring a 160. The results of the Skills Challenge will be posted on Golf Canada’s Future Links website.
