Rock will play for bronze at CRC U19s
Despite a fine showing by Jack Mccarthy of St. John’s, the Atlantic Rock under-19 squad suffered a 38-24 semifinal loss to Ontario at the national U-19 rugby championship Thursday in Truro, N.S.
Mccarthy is one of a dozen Newfoundlanders on the Rock
The Rock will meet the winner of the other semifinal between B.C. and the Voyageurs, a team comprised of players from Ottawa and Quebec, on Saturday for the bronze medal.
Carson O’sullivan of Saskatchewan scored the other try for the Rock, and Campbell Clarke of St. John’s had three conversions.
The Rock is 1-2 in the sixteam events. The host squad beat the Prairie Blizzard 2421, before dropping a 37-12 game to B.C.
