Tight race in local baseball

-

The OMT Shamrocks and Knights are tied for first place in a tight, three-way battle for the standings lead in the St. John’s Molson Senior Baseball League.

The Shammies shaded RMM Gonzaga Vikings 5-4 at St. Pat’s Ball Park Thursday night, while the Knights trounced winless Blazers 15-0 in five innings at Smallwood Drive Ball Park in Mount Pearl.

In a second senior game at St. Pat’s, Holy Cross Trinity Pub Crusaders blasted the Fifth Ticket Feildians 14-4 in a game shortened to six innings by virtue of the 10-run mercy rule.

The league now enjoys a four-day break, resuming play with three games Tuesday — two at St. Pat’s and one at Smallwood Drive.
