Sisters make Tely 10 a family affair
Among those participating in this year’s 90th Tely 10 are the five Hurley sisters from St. John’s, who picked up their race kits Thursday night at the Re/max Centre. From left are Donna Hurley, Anne Marie Hopkins, Colleen Hatfield, Karen Hurley Power and Michelle Pratte. For Donna and Karen, it will be their eighth Tely 10, Anne Marie’s seventh, Michelle’s sixth, and for Colleen, it will be her first Tely 10. And after losing close to 70 pounds in the past year, Colleen said she is more than determined to cross the finish line at Bannerman Park Sunday morning. “I don’t care how long it takes. I’m gonna finish!” They are the daughters of Newfoundland baseball Hall of Famer Pat Hurley of Holy Cross and the St. John’s Capitals.
