Ezekiel brothers make noise in victories at Lions Park


The Ezekiel boys were doing some damage Thursday night at Lions Park.

In Molson St. John’s senior softball action, Blair Ezekiel hit two solo home runs to lead the Kelly’s Pub Bulldogs to a 7-0 shutout of the NTV Hitmen, while younger brother Kyle drove in four runs, half of the RBIS coming on a two-run blast, as league-leading 3 Cheers Pub Dodgers downed the Canada Games team 9-5.

In the five-inning win by the Bulldogs (7-6), Blair Ezekiel’s bat backed the pitching of Sean Cleary (4W, 9K), who hit-wise,

allowed only a double by Fergie Griffiths of the Hitmen (4-8).

It was Cleary’s 98th career senior win.

Veteran Ward Gosse, the senior league’s all-time pitching leader in wins (182), took the loss.

In the other game, Kyle Ezekiel’s production was part of a 14-hit attack for the winners.

Ryan Kirk had three hits for 3 Cheers Pub (11-2), while Coady Furey added two RBIS and Isaac Power launched a solo home run.

Colin Walsh, who took over for starter Jason Hill in the fourth inning, pitched the win, striking out 10. Jordan Noftall suffered the loss.

Gerald Wall had two hits, two runs and two RBIS for the Games team (3-10).
