Thunder rolls to national title
St. John’s team downs Pop’s Pride in all-newfoundland final in B division of Canadian club championship
The St. John’s Thunder defeated Pop’s Pride, another team from St. John’s, in an all-newfoundland final at the Canadian men’s B, C and D ball hockey championship held over the weekend at the C.B.S. Arena.
Connor Donaghey, Kevin Reid, Patrick O’keefe and Mason Reid scored for the winners in the B final. Jeremy Bishop had the goal for Pop’s.
In the C final, Gros Morne Wildlife Museum Gulls got past Toronto D12 3-2. Russell Hardy scored twice for the west coast team, and Grant Vincent had one goal.
Stoney Creek, Alta. Savages downed a Newfoundland team, Eat Clean Wild, 3-2 in the D final. Corey Mitchell had both goals for the local squad.
