Another busy weekend on the diamonds
Baseball Newfoundland and Labrador’s final 2017 Sportscraft provincial minor championships are set to begin play today on the Avalon Peninsula and in the central part of the province.
Five all-newfoundland titles and two trips to Atlantic championships are on the line.
Here’s a rundown on the tournaments:
Bantam AAA At Airport Heights Field, St. John’s
Teams: St. John’s Capitals, Mount Pearl Blazers, Grand Falls-windsor Braves, Corner Brook Barons
First game: 6 p.m. today, St. John’s vs Mount Pearl.
Note: The winner will represent the province at Baseball Atlantic’s 15U AAA championship being hosted by Grand Falls Windsor in midseptember
U12 Girls
At Edgar Hartery Memorial Field (Little St. Pat’s), St. John’s
Teams: St. John’s Capitals, CBN Bulldogs, Grand Fallswindsor Braves, Corner Brook Barons (two teams), Bay St. George Vikings.
First game: noon today, St. John’s vs CBN
Peewee AA
At CBN Field and Spaniards Bay Field, Conception Bay North
Teams: CBN Bulldogs, St. John’s Capitals, Mount Pearl Blazers, C.B.S. Raiders, Paradise Phantoms, Gander Pilots, Pasadena Pirates, Corner Brook Barons, Bay St. George Vikings.
First games: 9 a.m. today, CBN vs St. John’s (CBN Field); Mount Pearl vs C.B.S. (Spaniards Bay Field).
Note: The winner will represent the province at Baseball Atlantic’s 13U AA championship being hosted by Conception Bay South in mid-september.
