From This Rock Culinary Tour gala set for Friday at Spirit of Newfoundland
A proud and vibrant culinary industry will be celebrated at the Spirit of Newfoundland on Friday night.
The From This Rock Culinary Tour will wrap up its 2017 slate with the grand finale event that will feature six chefs from this province putting their own special spin on locally sourced products.
Nancy Brace, executive director of the Restaurant Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (RANL), said Newfoundland and Labrador is known for its culinary scene, and supporting events such as From This Rock Culinary Tour further enhances the many wonderful venues that acquire, prepare and serve locally grown fare.
The six chefs participating in the grand finale of the From This Rock Culinary Tour include Bernie-ann Ezekiel of Academy Canada, Brian Piercey of Celtic Hearth, Dwayne Davis of Doctor’s House, Alex Pierson of Spirit of Newfoundland, Daniel Butler of The Gypsy Tearoom and Andrea Maunder of Bacalao.
In addition, the Restaurant Hall Of Fame and Restaurateur of the Year recipients for 2017 will be unveiled during the event, which goes from 6:309:30 p.m.
The evening will start with a Prosecco and cheese reception featuring live entertainment provided in house by Spirit of Newfoundland.
This will be followed by a six-course meal, one item each prepared by the participating chefs. The courses will include a seafood appetizer, soup, cod, chicken and lamb, and be capped off with dessert.
The venues that participated in the tour on Oct. 26 included the Port aux Basques Hotel, Days Inn in Stephenville, the Quality Inn in Corner Brook, the Deer Lake Motel, the Oceanview Hotel in Rocky Harbour, the Mount Peyton Hotel in Grand Falls-windsor, the Anchor Inn and Suites in Twillingate, the St. Jude Hotel in Clarenville and Harbour Breeze Catering in Harbour Grace.
