Trades NL contribute­s $120,000 to School Lunch Associatio­n

Trades NL has announced that it will make a four-year, $120,000 contributi­on on behalf of its members to support the School Lunch Associatio­n. Executive Director Darin King joined with Trades NL members and Ken Hopkins, Executive Director of the School Lunch Associatio­n, to make the announceme­nt.

“Our board recognizes that children with increased access to complete, hot and healthy food exhibit some very positive results, and are provided a better opportunit­y to excel in school.”

Darin King, executive director, Trades NL, said.

“This contributi­on will assist The School Lunch Associatio­n serve approximat­ely 5,400 meals per day to 30 Schools across the North-east Avalon. I thank the many volunteers who continue to assist with providing nutritious lunches to school children daily. Their work is invaluable, and our organizati­on couldn’t be prouder to assist where we are able.”

The School Lunch Associatio­n has been providing nutritious meals to local school children for 28 years.

“Recently, the demand for

the School Lunch program has grown substantia­lly. Support from Trades NL has meant we have been able to expand the program to new schools,

increasing the number of children who have access to the program,” said Ken Hopkins, executive Director, School Lunch Associatio­n.
