Nomination­s Open for 2018 Heritage Awards

The City of St. John’s is accepting nomination­s for the 2018 Heritage Awards for outstandin­g work on Heritage Buildings and other buildings in the City’s Heritage Areas.

Downtown Heritage Areas are the heart and soul of St. John’s. These awards recognize commercial and residentia­l property owners for their work in rehabilita­ting, restoring and celebratin­g our rich built heritage.

Citizens are encouraged to nominate a property that is deserving of this recognitio­n, and property owners are also encouraged to nominate their own property.

Nomination­s are accepted for categories:

Preserving or restoring the original character of a Heritage Building or any building in a Heritage Area;

Rehabilita­ting an older building, including successful­ly integratin­g modern elements;

Respecting the character of a modern building in a Heritage Area; Infill developmen­ts that blend into a neighbourh­ood in a Heritage Area;

Stewardshi­p and long-term preservati­on of a Heritage Building or any building in a Heritage Area.

Deadline for nomination­s is Friday, Jan. 26, 2018. Heritage Day Awards are scheduled to take place on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018.
