Water and sewer issues deserve attention
I have written to the City of St. John’s several times in the past and I am yet to receive a response.
That I find as disturbing as not having our water and sewer issues addressed.
Last week I listened to the federal budget being tabled and it is interesting to note that hundreds of millions of dollars are being spent to address clean water issues for Indigenous people. I live in Kilbride, I am not Indigenous and we do not have clean drinking water.
When Andy Wells was mayor, the federal government provided funding support to give us water and sewer, but the money was used on Kenmount Road and we were told that it would be addressed in the next budget. That was a long time ago and we still don’t have water and sewer.
In The Telegram last week I read about the most recent budget and still again the issues of the most basic needs of the citizens of this city have not been addressed. Instead, social and recreational pursuits have taken precedence.
We do not have clean drinking water because our wells are being polluted as a result of nearby farms.
They were here before us and I won’t object to them fertilizing their fields.
But I will, as will the others, object to our property assessments at the next available opportunity. You people should be ashamed of yourselves!
