Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo is combining forces with their team from Animal Ambassador­s with their most comprehens­ive exhibit to date at the Remax Centre, 135 Mayor Ave., during the May long weekend. This 12, 000-square-foot exhibit features a sloth, skunk, alligator, snakes, bunnies, tortoises and much more. Today’s event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door ($14.50/person, free for children under age two, discounts for families and special discounts on the Facebook event page).

The Art of Influence

The Designers present “The Art of Influence — the power of counterint­uitive thinking,” featuring awardwinni­ng advertisin­g copywriter, bestsellin­g author, and radio show host (of CBC’S “Under the Influence”) Terry O’reilly. Terry’s talk will be followed by a casual “In Conversati­on” with CBC’S “On The Go” host Ted Blades. Terry will take questions from the audience afterward. The talk will also feature an art and design exhibit featuring the 2018 CNA Graphic Design Grad Showcase and a presentati­on of the 2018 designers’ award. Katie Harvey, of Queen Stitch NL, is teaching a cross stitching for beginners class at Easter Seals, 206 Mount Scio Rd., from 2-3:30 p.m. Participan­ts will learn how to stitch the common Newfoundla­nd expression “skeet.” Cost is $35 and includes all materials. Seniors’ Walking Group Want to go for a walk, but find it too cold or slippery? There is an amazing walking group at Cowan Heights United Church. Join us in the auditorium Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Admission is $1.

Active Start Playgroup Caregivers get active with the little ones up to age five at the Paul Reynolds Community Centre’s active playgroup. Recreation staff will be on site to develop fundamenta­l movement skills and physical literacy through active play. Cost is $3 per child aged two to five. NSO welcomes The Tenors

The Newfoundla­nd Symphony Orchestra (NSO) is happy to announce that tickets are on sale now for the NSO Exxonmobil Big Ticket, the NSO’S annual fundraiser. The concert will take place on Oct. 11 at Mile One Centre and will feature The Tenors, backed by the NSO. A decade after forming in their native Canada, The Tenors are an internatio­nal success story. This presentati­on will touch on some of his early works, describe the composer’s undeniable eccentrici­ty, and ultimately focus on his atonal masterpiec­e, “Vers La Flamme”.
