Barons, Pilots in provincial senior B final

The 2018 Baseball Newfoundland Labrador senior championships get underway this weekend as the host Veitch Wellness Corner Brook Barons take on the Stafford’s Welding Gander Pilots for the provincial senior B championship.

Despite the alphabetical designation, this isn’t a second-tier competition, but rather a matchup to determine who will advance to face the defending provincial senior champion St. John’s Capitals in the Molson Coors Senior A Provincial Championships.

The Barons and Pilots will square off in a best-of-five series beginning tonight at Jubilee Field. If the series goes to a full five games, the decider would be Sunday afternoon.
