Favourite cars from my birth-year!

The Telegram (St. John’s) - - THE CAR GUIDE - Thank You! Jason Kenney, St. John’s.

“I was looking back at some of my favourite cars from my first year on earth - 1976! First : ‘76 Chevrolet Monte Carlo . Such amazing body lines, the car was long and looked so much better than the older shorter models. 1976 marked the first year of the rectangular double stacked headlamps which replaced the more traditional two round headlamps. “Second, the 1976 Pontiac firebird Trans AM, which sold 46,701 were sold in ‘76. My favourite is the silver colour with the screaming chicken decal on the hood. The Trans AM was made popular in the movie, Smokey and The Bandit, where a black and gold 1977 model was used.” “And last, I love the peppy 1976 Chevy Vega. Only 3508 were sold for ’75 / ‘76, compared to its sibling the Chevy Monza which sold 46,735 that year. The cooler Vega was 111 horsepower, 2.0 litre twin cam four. It was light, sporty and small. Not as popular as muscle cars of the time, but super cool in my opinion! I hope our many antique car enthusiast readers enjoy!”
