Trio of St. John’s youth face multiple charges following theft, rollover of vehicle Sunday

A stolen vehicle that rolled over on Veterans Memorial Highway on Sept. 16 has led to charges for the three occupants.

The RCMP, fire department­s and ambulances responded to reports of a single vehicle rollover around 10 a.m. on Sunday.

When authoritie­s and first responders arrived, two teens remained at the scene and a third had fled. They learned the vehicle had been stolen in St. John’s on Saturday night and was used in a gasand-dash crime in Bay Roberts shortly before the rollover. In addition, the vehicle was involved in mischief in Harbour Grace early Sunday morning.

As a result of the investigat­ion, a 15-year-old girl, a 16-year-old male and a 19-year-old man, all from St. John’s, have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and breaches of court orders.

All three suffered non-life-threatenin­g injuries as a result of the rollover.

They were held in police custody pending a court appearance in Harbour Grace Monday.
