Passed peace­fully away on Oc­to­ber 28, 2018, age 91 at Bramp­ton Civic Hos­pi­tal, Bramp­ton, ON, Mary Brid­gett Evans (nee Burke, for­mally of St. John’s, NL). Pre­de­ceased by her hus­band James Wil­liam Evans in 1988. Leav­ing to mourn daugh­ters Ja­nis (Ma­cadam) of Wasaga Beach, ON, Colleen of Van­cou­ver, BC, and son Paul of Mon­treal, QC. Sons-in-law A. Brian Ma­cadam, Dou­glas Hodg­son, and daugh­ter-in-law Janet Craig. Grand­chil­dren Jen­nifer (Ge­or­gas), Laura, Stu­art, Nik­las and Colin. Spe­cial thanks to Drs. Ahuja and Dhillon, and the team of nurses and care­givers at the Acute Care for the El­derly unit of Bramp­ton Civic who pro­vided ex­cep­tional care in Mom’s last few days. Hav­ing lived most of her life in St. John’s NL, Mary moved to Bramp­ton in 2000, in closer prox­im­ity to her chil­dren and grand­chil­dren, who she very much en­joyed and en­thu­si­as­ti­cally baked for un­til Alzheimers took away her vi­tal­ity. In 2011, Mary moved to Wood­hall Park Re­tire­ment Vil­lage, and even­tu­ally to Long Term Care un­der the ex­cel­lent clin­i­cal care of the kind and lov­ing staff. Do­na­tions in Mary’s mem­ory can be made to the Alzheimer’s So­ci­ety of Canada, or the char­ity of your choice.
