Marine Institute marks Remembrance Day
With the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean peeking through the Narrows of St. John’s harbour, the Marine Institute held its annual Remembrance Day Ceremony 11 a.m. Friday morning at the Merchant Navy Monument outside the Ridge Road post-secondary school involving students and staff and other invited guests. The event also marked with the 100th anniversary of the Great War ending at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11thmonth with the signing of the Armistice on November 11, 1918. Among those taking part in the event were: HMCS Cabot Naval Reserve personnel O/S Zachary Barnes (left) and Lt.-cmdr. Alan Brown.
