Passed peace­fully away on De­cem­ber 3, 2018 at Glen­brook Lodge. Son of the late Frank and Elsie (Black­ler). Pre­de­ceased by brother Cyril; sis­ters: Joan, Olga, Noreen and Olivia. Sur­vived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret May (Fowlow); chil­dren: Mark (Carol), Anne, Brian (Su­san) and Derek (Kim); grand­chil­dren: Matthew, Ni­cole, Theo, Sa­man­tha and Alex; brother Alan; also a num­ber of nieces and neph­ews, other rel­a­tives and many friends. Born on April 14, 1929 in St. John’s and grew up as a proud Feil­dian. Dad had an il­lus­tri­ous 43 year ca­reer with Mu­tual Life of Canada. He played eu­pho­nium and trum­pet and was af­fil­i­ated with the CLB Band for over 40 years. His love for curl­ing cu­mu­lated with his in­duc­tion into the NL Curl­ing Hall of Fame and the Gover­nor Gen­eral’s Curl­ing Club. He was an hon­orary mem­ber of the St. John’s Curl­ing Club and was a long­time ham ra­dio oper­a­tor, VO1HG. His fam­ily would like to ac­knowl­edge the staff of Tif­fany Vil­lage and Glen­brook Lodge for their warm and pro­fes­sional care over the past seven years. Vis­i­ta­tion will be at Car­nell’s Fu­neral Home, 329 Fresh­wa­ter Road, St. John’s, NL, Sun­day, De­cem­ber 9, 2018 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Fu­neral Ser­vice will be held at the Angli­can Cathe­dral of St. John the Bap­tist, 16 Church Hill, St. John’s, NL, Mon­day, De­cem­ber 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. with pri­vate in­ter­ment to fol­low.
