NSO an­nounces 2018-19 RBC Emerg­ing Artist Con­duc­tor Fel­low­ship

The New­found­land Sym­phony Orches­tra has an­nounced that Bran­don Mol­lon is the re­cip­i­ent of this year’s RBC Emerg­ing Artist Con­duc­tor Fel­low­ship. The pro­gram, of­fered through the orches­tra and spon­sored by RBC, and in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the School of Mu­sic, of­fers a fel­low­ship to a grad­u­ate in­stru­men­tal con­duct­ing stu­dent pre­par­ing for a pro­fes­sional ca­reer in­volv­ing con­duct­ing.

“Again, this year we had a great group of ap­pli­cants for this fel­low­ship,” said Marc David, Mu­sic Di­rec­tor of the New­found­land Sym­phony Orches­tra. “Bran­don rose to the top and I am look­ing for­ward to work­ing with and men­tor­ing him. This spring he will also have a chance to con­duct the orches­tra in con­cert which is a huge op­por­tu­nity for a young con­duc­tor.”

In ad­di­tion, through the fel­low­ship, the emerg­ing artist will have the op­por­tu­nity to work with es­tab­lished lo­cal pro­fes­sional mu­si­cians and cel­e­brated guest artists.

Mol­lon will hold be the RBC Emerg­ing Artist Con­duc­tor for the 2018-19 sea­son. He will also sup­port the ed­u­ca­tional work of the NSO, as­sist­ing with up­com­ing projects in­clud­ing the Sing-in/ Play-in Jam Ses­sions in Jan­uary.
