NSO announces 2018-19 RBC Emerging Artist Conductor Fellowship
The Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra has announced that Brandon Mollon is the recipient of this year’s RBC Emerging Artist Conductor Fellowship. The program, offered through the orchestra and sponsored by RBC, and in collaboration with the School of Music, offers a fellowship to a graduate instrumental conducting student preparing for a professional career involving conducting.
“Again, this year we had a great group of applicants for this fellowship,” said Marc David, Music Director of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. “Brandon rose to the top and I am looking forward to working with and mentoring him. This spring he will also have a chance to conduct the orchestra in concert which is a huge opportunity for a young conductor.”
In addition, through the fellowship, the emerging artist will have the opportunity to work with established local professional musicians and celebrated guest artists.
Mollon will hold be the RBC Emerging Artist Conductor for the 2018-19 season. He will also support the educational work of the NSO, assisting with upcoming projects including the Sing-in/ Play-in Jam Sessions in January.
