It is with bro­ken hearts that we an­nounce the peace­ful pass­ing of our beloved mother, grand­mother, sis­ter, aunt and friend, Ethel Dinn (nee Miller), on Jan­uary 10, 2019 at the age of 94, at the Health Sciences Cen­tre. Pre­de­ceased by her par­ents Ed­ward and Caro­line Miller of Por­tu­gal Cove; her hus­band of 56 years, Ron­ald Dinn (2006); her brothers and sis­ters: Suzie, Robert John, Harold (Mau­reen), El­iza (Art) Churchill, Ed­ward (Maise), Ger­ald (Ethel), and Mary (Jim) Bug­den; brothers and sis­ters-in-law Stanis­laus, Madonna, Joseph (Loretta), Maud (Michael) Atkin­son, Florence (Patrick) Stamp, Wil­liam (Al­ice and Ellen), Jack (Effie), Loretta (Wal­ter) Wil­liams, Molly (John) Ear­les, and El­iz­abeth (Al­mon) Dale; and spe­cial life long friend Effie Dinn (nee Miller). Leav­ing to mourn is her lov­ing and de­voted fam­ily, daugh­ters Mary (Chris) Pretty and Rhonda (Paul) Phillips, grand­chil­dren whom she loved dearly Christina Pretty, An­drew Phillips, Alex Pretty and Amanda Phillips, her sis­ter Gla­dys (Charles) Cod­ner, a large cir­cle of nieces, neph­ews and friends and spe­cial neigh­bors Vic­tor and Dorothy Flem­ing. Ethel lived a full and happy life, de­vot­ing her­self to car­ing for her im­me­di­ate and ex­tended fam­ily and friends. She wel­comed ev­ery­one into her home and en­joyed shar­ing a cup of tea. Ev­ery­one knew her as a gen­tle, kind and com­pas­sion­ate lady. Many thanks to the won­der­ful staff at North Pond Manor for their gen­uine care over these last few months, and for the staff at the Health Sciences Cen­tre Emer­gency and Fourth Floor for their kind­ness and com­pas­sion. Rest­ing at Caul’s Fu­neral Home, Le­marchant Road on Mon­day, Jan­uary 14th from 12-9 p.m. Fu­neral ser­vice will take place on Tues­day, Jan­uary 15th from Caul’s Chapel at 2:30 p.m. with in­ter­ment to fol­low at Holy Sepul­chre Ceme­tery. Flow­ers are grate­fully ac­cepted or do­na­tions in her mem­ory may be made to the Janeway Chil­dren’s Hos­pi­tal.
