- telegram@thetelegram.com

The Ferryland RCMP detachment is seeking witnesses and dash cam footage to help solve a break-in at Witless Bay Home Hardware.

On Saturday, Sept. 13 about 12:30 a.m., police were called to the site.

According to a news release, a gate to the storage yard was forced open and a large amount of pressure-treated plywood was stolen.

A light-coloured pickup truck was observed departing the scene, heading south on Route 10, and was noticeably weighed down in the back, police say.

The vehicle is described as being loud, possibly with exhaust issues or having a diesel engine, and may have front-end or rear-end damage from forcing the gate open.

The incident took place between 12:25-12:30 a.m.

A number of vehicles were driving on the road during the incident and police suspect there may be witnesses. Anyone who has information about this incident, including dash camera footage, is asked to call the Ferryland RCMP at 709-4322440.
