Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family, at the Caribou Memorial Veteran’s Pavilion, Lawrence “Larry” Ryan, of O’donnells, St. Mary’s Bay, aged 97 years, Veteran of WWII as a Private with the 59th Royal Newfoundla­nd Regiment. Predecease­d by his loving wife Elizabeth “Betty”; brothers: Edward, Gabriel, Alban, James, Jerome, Clem and sisters Nora Andrews and Ester O’brien. Leaving to mourn his beloved children: Audrey Mclean (Ernie), Peter (Manita), Randy (Cynthia), Sharon Power, Vena Hickey (Jim), Larry, Mario (Cathy Ann), Mark (Charity), Neil (Michelle), his pride & joy his 23 grandchild­ren and 17 great-grandchild­ren, sister Regina Brown and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A special thank you to his long time friend Sr. Monica Hickey, as well as the caring staff at the Veteran’s Pavilion. Larry’s example as a soft spoken, kindhearte­d and humble gentleman was observed by many and will continue beyond his passing. He loved to be surrounded by family and found true solace in his respect of nature and deep rooted religious faith. Resting at St. Joseph’s Church, St. Joseph’s, S.M.B., on Tuesday, December 3, from 7 - 9pm and Wednesday, December 4, 12 - 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 5, at 10am. Burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, O’donnells. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
