At home. In the arms of those he held dearest.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of our adorable, amazing, loving son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Predeceased by his parents Cyril & Mary (Maime Noonan) of Northern Bay, NL. Forever remembered and forever loved by his devoted partner and soul mate of 50 years, Lorraine (Rotchford); his cherished children Danielle, Stephen (Jelena) and Nadine (David Bisson); grandsons and the light of his life, Connor Edward and Ethan Angelo Hogan; cherished sisters and brothers in-law, Joanne (Rev’d Keith Sheppard) and Theresa (Paul Boundridge); special inlaws Steve (Ann) Rotchford, Howard (Mary Ann) Rotchford, Diane (Bruce) Duinker and Irene (Tom) Picco; numerous nieces and nephews, countless life-long friends, colleagues and worthy adversaries. Dad’s second love and second home, NAPE, is what gave him purpose outside his family. While many people spend their lives dreaming of retirement dad loved the daily morning drive to his office, looking forward to sitting with the NAPE crew eating his tea and toast, and sharing his endless stories of battles lost and battles won. NAPE was his inspiration that our family grew up to admire. Dad lived to work and to the end it was his NAPE brothers and sisters who helped him transition through this final phase of his life’s journey. The compassion and love bestowed upon dad by his NAPE family has warmed all our hearts forever. To those who knew dad they would be quick to tell you he was by no means a patient man, but rather a quick and ferocious negotiator. By nature he mentored those coming up behind him, imbedding in them his legacy of fighting for workers rights. Dad fought for his members as much as he fought for his family. If he said he had your back, he always had your back. If he called you friend, you were always his friend. Described as the best in every role he took on he was one in a million. Dad’s strength, character and spirit will be remembered by many and for that we are forever thankful. Although he has shed his earth suit, what he leaves behind is his family to carry on his memory – the love we shared will never leave our hearts.

“But he is up in an instant and his adversary is down – backward, on his elbows”.

There will be no funeral service due to COVID-19 precautions. We have celebrated dad’s life all his life – let’s keep doing that, each in our own way.

Cremation has taken place. In a private family gathering at a later date his ashes will be placed alongside those of his parents in his beloved Northern Bay. In our dad’s memory, please be kind to others and always pay it forward
