No new cases
Four people in hospital, two in intensive care
On Sunday afternoon, a provincial government news release said there are no new confirmed cases of COVID-19.
The total number of confirmed cases in the province remains at 261.
Four people are in hospital due to the virus, and of those, two are in intensive care.
The regional breakdown of the 261 cases is: 243 in Eastern Health, eight in Central Health, six in Labrador-grenfell Health, and four in Western Health.
Fifty-two per cent of cases are female and forty-eight per cent are male.
By age, there are 22 people 19 years old and under, 38 between 20-39, 39 between 40-49, 58 between 50-59, 57 between 60-69, and 47 who are 70 years old and above.
Two hundred and forty four people have recovered.
There have been three deaths from COVID-19.
To date, 9,821 people have been tested for the virus.
“Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are reminded to strictly adhere to the public health orders and directives issued by the Chief Medical Officer of Health,” reads the news release.
“Individuals should practice good infection prevention and control practices. Daily preventative actions can help to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
Some examples provided in the news release include:
• Wash your hands often with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds;
• Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer in the absence of warm water and soap;
• Avoid touching your face;
• Practice proper cough and sneeze etiquette;
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces;
• Maintain a distance of six feet (two metres) between you and others;
• Wear a properly fitted, homemade or non-medical mask when going out for essentials to protect others; and,
• Stay home if you are sick.
