Passed peacefully away at St Patrick’s Mercy Home on May 8, 2020 surrounded by her loving family, Carmel (Traverse) Sharpe, age 92. Predecease­d by her husband Edward (1980), her daughters Debbie (2006) and Ruby (2020), infant son Kevin, sister Helen, brothers James, Bernard and Aloysius, nephew Jerome and infant grandson Adam. Grateful for her remarkable life but saddened by the loss, her children Teddy, Diane (Bernie), Judy (David), Shirley (Vince), Maxine, John (Jackie), Jean Ann (Gary), Stephen (Pamela) and Andrew (Nola). Her grandchild­ren, Christine (Scott), Ronnie, Renee, Vincent (Kim and her daughter Kataleya), Matthew (Stacey), Mark, Jason, Emily (Tyler), Liam (Rebecca), Justin, Colin, Jack, Gracie, great grandchild­ren Brodie and Sophie, brother Loyola and special family friend, Carol Byrne. “Aunt Carmel” will be also missed by her many nieces and nephews from both the Traverse and Sharpe family. Special thank you to the staff of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home, especially the “two Megans.” You have treated Mom, as well as our family, with love, kindness, and respect. We are forever grateful. Thank you to Sister Charlotte and Father Sutton for your spiritual guidance, especially at the end of Mom’s life. Thank you to Dr. Chaulk, Mom’s family physician of many years and Dr. Fong. Thank you to the home care workers, including Edie, Mary, Victoria and Danette, who cared for Mom before she went to long term care. Cremation entrusted to Carnell’s Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19 restrictio­ns, there will be no visitation but a celebratio­n of life at a later date. Final resting place will be with her Mother, Grandmothe­r Traverse, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Topsail Road. Donations can be made to St. Patrick’s Mercy Home Foundation.
