HALLETT Victor “Jim” James

-

(1945 – 2020)

Born on Flat Island, Bonavista Bay, Jim and his family resettled in Mount Pearl in 1955 and built a new life and a new community. An avid outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed a lifetime on the water and in the woods with family and friends who shared his passions. Known for speaking his mind and showing his heart with inimitable candour, Jim lived with gusto and laughter. His life will be remembered and celebrated by his wife Sheila (Daly) Hallett; son, Desmond (Rhonda); daughter, Vicki (David); and grandson, Samuel; sister, Mildred Barnes (Peter); sisters-in-law: Tralee Butler (Bob) and Ann Duggins; as well as his extended, close-knit family of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Eleanor and Aaron Hallett; and parents-in-law, Ruth and Desmond Daly. The family would like to thank dear friends who have been lovingly supportive for so many years. They would also like to express their gratitude to the Palliative Care Unit at Eastern Health and the wonderful staff at Lawtons Drugs, Mount Pearl for their kindness. Due to the current global pandemic of COVID-19, a celebration of Jim’s life will be announced at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in his memory to the Palliative Care Program via the PCU Dr. L.A. Miller Centre. In lieu of visitation at this time, the family and staff of Barrett’s Funeral Home encourage people to post their condolences, share photos, and tributes by visiting the online memorial guestbook at www.barretts.ca.
